Freewill Offering Concert
Houston Cecilia presents a program celebrating the richness of sacred choral music across centuries. At its center is Missa Brevis in D major, K. 194 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Composed in 1774, this “Short Mass” reflects Mozart’s early brilliance, blending clarity, elegance, and expressive depth in a concise yet radiant setting. Also featured is Mozart’s beloved Ave verum corpus, Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber, Sicut cervus by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and Inviolata, by Gonzalo Ramos.

Composed in 1963, the Misa Criolla blends the traditional Latin Mass with the vibrant rhythms and melodies of Argentine folk music. At the heart of the piece is its lyrical tenor solo, weaving through the entirety of the Mass as its emotional core. We are honored to feature international opera tenor Angelo Ferrari in this role, bringing his acclaimed artistry and passion to Ramírez’s masterpiece.

Houston Cecilia is honored to be joining the Prince of Peace community in presenting a Lessons & Carols service, inviting everyone to participate in the familiar Christmas hymns sung by the congregation, alongside a diverse selection of sacred musical pieces.
